embryo
• pale cytoplasm, numerous vacuoles and swollen and degenerating mitochondria in SynT-II
• at E17.5, labyrinth exhibit increased area of lustered cuboidal cells compared with wild-type mice
• increased fetoplacental vascularity at E15.5 with increased total number and length of arterial segments with diameters of more than 50 um and increased capillary density
• at E13.5 with thick interhemal membrane
• thick syncytial layers at E13.5 and E17.5
• abnormal ultrastructure in the 2 syncytial layers at E17.5 with evidence of necrosis (pale cytoplasm, numerous vacuoles and swollen and degenerating mitochondria) in SynT-II

cellular
• pale cytoplasm, numerous vacuoles and swollen and degenerating mitochondria in SynT-II
• 2-fold increase in cell proliferation in the labyrinth at E17.5

cardiovascular system
• increased fetoplacental vascularity at E15.5 with increased total number and length of arterial segments with diameters of more than 50 um and increased capillary density
• wild-type dams carrying heterozygous fetuses exhibit increased mean arterial blood pressure compared with dams carrying wild-type fetuses
• however, dams do not exhibit proteinuria
