• there is a 2 fold increase in total lymphocytes in the intraepithelial lymphocyte subpopulation
• subpopulations of myeloid dendritic cells are aberrantly positioned compared to wild-type
• host mice are unable to develop an inflammatory response when injected with CD4+ T cells from null animals
• mice have underdeveloped Peyer's patches compared to wild-type
• Peyer's patches from mutants show a lower number of developed follicles than wild-type animals
• sensitized null mice show less inflammation to subsequent injection of allogeneic splenocytes
