• most deaths within 5 days of birth due to inadequate caloric intake
• 6% survival past 6 weeks

• deltoid crest slightly malformed
• no transformations anterior to T6 or posterior to L2
• sometimes extra sternebra between 6th and 7th ribs
• attachment of rib 8 to sternum particularly when extra sternebra present
• occasionally split lengthwise, particularly when rib 8 attachment to sternum was asymmetric
• rib 12 similar in form to rib 11 in about 50% of mice
• rudimentary or well developed L1 rib usually present (J:68720)
• well developed processus transverses on T10 and T11 (J:590)
• abnormal dorsal processes (J:68720)
• T8 to T7 transformation in about 1/3 of mice
• S1 to L6 transformation
