• mice exhibit reduced latency in the step-down avoidance task; these mice all exhibit jumping and vocalization upon shock, suggesting that this phenotype is not attributable to differences in pain perception
• impaired motor coordination is shown by a decreased retention time on a rotarod and on a thin stationary plexiglass rod

• mutant mice exhibit slightly reduced cerebellar NR1 levels, but comimmunoprecipitation experiments show that the NR1 and mutant subunits are associated with each other as well as with PSD-95
• synaptic activation of these mutant receptors evoked postsynaptic elevations of Ca2+ intracellular concentration, similar to the controls
