decreased erythrocyte osmotic fragility ( J:9830 )

• the red blood cells of these mice are less fragile than the red blood cells from mice of either of the two contributing strains, C57BL/6J and DBA/2J, raising the resistance of these recombinant inbred mice to osmotic lysis

• resistance to osmotic lysis is intrinsic to the red blod cells
