endocrine/exocrine glands
• contains clustered and unusual chromophobic cells unreative to antisera against anterior pituitary hormones
• before 13 weeks of age tubules of mutant mice are smaller than those of control mice but are comparable by 26 weeks of age
• before 13 weeks of age tubules of mutant mice are smaller than those of control mice
• weight of testes from mutant mice was significantly less than age-matched control mice until 8 weeks of age, being comparable at 13-26 weeks
• the severe primary hypothyroidism correlates with loss of tyrosylprotein sulfotransferase activity

growth/size/body
• there is normal growth until about 2 weeks of age when growth is suppressed
• during pubertal growth, from 3 weeks to a month of age, mutant mice weigh significantly less than control siblings
• the visible size differences between mutant mice and controls gradually diminishes until by one year of age the two are indistinguishable

homeostasis/metabolism
• mice exhibit low concentrations of serum T3 and T4
• elevation in circulating TSH levels in response to low T3 and T4 levels shows the pituitary is normal
• a tri-iodothyronine supplement is effective in shortening the early growth pause and reactivating the suppressed pubertal growth phase
• the expected increase in pituitary GH seen at puberty is delayed

nervous system
• contains clustered and unusual chromophobic cells unreative to antisera against anterior pituitary hormones

reproductive system
• at 5 weeks of age mutant mice did not have mature sperm cells in the testes or epididymides
• before 13 weeks of age tubules of mutant mice are smaller than those of control mice but are comparable by 26 weeks of age
• before 13 weeks of age tubules of mutant mice are smaller than those of control mice
• weight of testes from mutant mice was significantly less than age-matched control mice until 8 weeks of age, being comparable at 13-26 weeks

cellular
• at 5 weeks of age mutant mice did not have mature sperm cells in the testes or epididymides
