Mutation details: Three retinoic acid response elements (in reverse, reverse and forward order) from the Rarb2 promoter and a herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase (TK) minimal promoter were placed upstream of the beta-galactosidase reporter gene, and SV40 intron and poly(A) signal sequences were placed downstream. Embryos of mothers treated or not treated with RA show distinct and reproducible beta-gal activity patterns.
