The cDNA has A>G and A>C point mutations changing codon 304 (p.K304A) from lysine to alanine, thereby inactivating or severely reducing the peptide's capacity to bind to the cAMP response element (CRE) on the DNA, without affecting dimerization with wild-type peptide.
