Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence, Reporter)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation detailsThis transgene puts the rat Olfr2 gene under the control of the mouse Olfr226 promoter. In the rat Olfr2 gene, the DRY motif at the cytoplasmic end of the transmembrane domain III was mutated to RDY. It was predicted this mutation would prevent association of G proteins involved in downstream signaling. An enhanced cyan fluorescent protein (CFP) reporter gene was also inserted downstream of the rat gene. (J:128070)
