Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:178209

Linkage analysis was performed on a mapping population of 209 male and female (BcA70xB6)F2 mice to identify genomic loci related to sensitivity to noxious heat (latency on paw-withdrawal test). Previous genotyping of the BcA70 and BcA81 strains indicated the existence of 19 and 13 introgressed congenic segments, respectively, inherited from the A/J donor strain and distributed over 13 (chromosomes 17, 1013, 17 and X) and 12 (chromosomes 46, 811, 13, 15, 18, 19 and X) chromosomes, respectively. F2 mice were genotyped at 38 microsatellite markers spanning all the introgressed segments with intermarker distances ranging from 0.05 to 30 cM, and regression analyses were performed. All coordinates are relative to mouse genome build 37 (mm9).

QTL Tpnr5 maps to 72.0 - 86.1 Mb (D4Mit85 - D4Mit327) on Chromosome 4 with a peak LOD score of 4.0 at D4Mit84. C57BL/6J alleles are reported to condition increased pain sensitivity, while A/J alleles are reported to condition decreased pain sensitivity. Protein-coding gene Tyrp1 is suggested as the most likely candidate gene.
