Mutation details: A neomycin resistance cassette replaced exon 3 through 5. Western blot analysis confirmed the absence of protein expression in the brain of homozygous mutant mice. The residual N-acetylaspartylglutamate (NAAG) hydrolyzing activity in the brain was ~6% of that seen in wild-type controls.
