54 BXD RI lines (C57BL/6J x DBA/2J) were used to map brain neocortical volume to mouse Chromosome 6 and 11. C57BL/6J has a larger neocortical volume then does DBA/2J. The chromosome 6 QTL ( Neocv1 )maps between 88 and 92 Mbs with a LRS of 13.3 and a LOD of 2.9. The chromosome 11 QTL ( Neocv2 )maps between 35 and 40 Mbs with a LRS of 12.7 and a LOD of 2.6. Various candidate genes are listed in Table 1 and Table 2 of the reference.
