The Syt9 cDNA incorporated in the allele (intended to function as a conditional knock-in) has been found to be non-functional. Owing to the size of the Syt9 cDNA and the possible presence of cryptic splice donor and acceptor sequences, the conditional Syt9 knock-in strategy activated by FRT1 FLP-recombination does not work.
