Mutation details: A targeting construct contained the Camk2a promoter, a loxp flanked alkaline phosphates-pA stop cassette and the sequence for the human homolog of heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HBEGF) which functions as a diphtheria toxin receptor (DTR) in mice. Lines A and B were generated with line B exhibiting reduced expression compared with line A. Upon cre-mediated excision of the floxed AP stop cassette, the DTR is expressed making it possible to ablate specific cell populations.
