Mutation details: LoxP sites flank the coding region of Gja1. A single frt site remains immediately 3' of the polyadenylation signal as the result of FLP deletion of a frt-flanked neomycin resistance cassette from Gja1tm6(Gjb3)Kwi. The coding region and 88 bp of downstream sequence from Gja3 have been inserted between the Gja1 termination codon and its downstream DNA so that Cre recombinase mediated recombination will delete the Gja1 coding sequence and place that of Gja3 under control of the Gja1 regulatory sequences.
