Mutation details: Trapped gene association determined by genome coordinate overlap and strand. The position of the gene trap was identified with a 5' rapid amplification of cDNA ends (5'RACE) sequence tag matching exons 9-7 of the gene and thus indicating the gene trap location in intron 9. Serial PCR and sequence analyses showed that the gene trap vector integrated at position bp 995 of intron 9 of the gene. Western blot analysis confirmed absence of full-length protein in the hippocampus and the presence of a Stk38l(1-282)::beta-geo fusion protein that has most of the activating sequence, the kinase subdomains VIII-XII, including the substrate recognition sites and the c-terminal hydrophobic motif deleted.

All BayGenomics gene trap mutations were generated in either CGR8 or E14TG2a (129P2/OlaHsd) parental ES cell lines, with the majority in subline E14TG2a.4. The specific ES cell line in which each mutation was made is not specified.
