Mutation
description
Allele Type:    Targeted (No functional change)
Mutations:    Insertion, Intragenic deletion

Mutation detailsThis mutation deletes the 11.8 kb retrotransposon insertion responsible for the nonagouti phenotype of C57BL/6 mice, along with 607 bp of flanking intronic DNA, with retention of a single frt site from an excised frt-flanked selection cassette. It restores expression of the agouti protein in both dorsal and ventral fur. (J:149352)
Inheritance:    Dominant

Carrying this Mutation:  Mouse Strains: 1679 strains available      Cell Lines: 7671 lines available
Carrying any a Mutation:  463 strains or lines available
Notes
Although spontaneous revertants of non-agouti retain part of the inserted sequence present in the a allele and are white- or light-bellied agouti (Aw-like), the targeting event that produced Atm1Brd removed the entire insertion, resulting in a fully agouti coat like that of mice bearing the A allele.
