Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation detailsThe transgene contains the coding sequences for the hepatitis C virus (HCV) envelope proteins, E1 and E2, downstream of the enhancer and promoter from the HBx antigen gene of hepatitis B virus (HBV) and followed by the HBX polyadenylation signal. Both HCV envelope proteins are expressed in organs of transgenic mice, most strongly in the liver, where they occur in association with one another and primarily in the cytoplasm of hepatocytes surrounding the hepatic central veins.
