A mouse with this transgene can be bred with another transgenic mouse expressing reverse tetracycline-controlled transactivator protein (rtTA) or tetracycline-controlled transactivator protein (tTA) under control of a selected promoter to produce bitransgenic mice in which mitochondrial EYFP expression can be regulated in a tissue-specific manner by administration/removal of the tetracycline analog, doxycycline.
