Mutation details: Exon 1, including the initiation codon, was replaced with a reporter construct containing a lacZ gene, stop codon and poly(A) signal. RNA transcripts were quantified in various tissues using RT-PCR to confirm gene ablation. Beta-galactosidase expression is observed in the vasculature of all major organ systems tested. Some ectopic expression is also noted.
