• Mutation details: The transgene contains a mitochondrial uncoupling protein promoter (Ucp) and a 33 kb genomic fragment including 4 kb of human erythropoietin (EPO) along with 20 kb of 5' flanking sequence and 8.5 kb of 3' flanking sequence. Notes

Anemia produced by phelebotomy or treatment with phenylhydrazine induced the transgene in kidney and liver with some variability; cobalt and hypoxia also induced the transgene. In the absence of induced anemia, constitutive expression was not found in brain, heart, kidney, spleen and liver.
