Transgene
origin
Strain of Origin:  (BALB/c x C57BL/6) X BALB/c
Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Humanized sequence, Inserted expressed sequence)
Mutation:    Insertion

Tg(Mt1-RET)242Ina expresses 1 gene

Mutation detailsThe transgene comprises the cDNA encoding the human ret proto-oncogene driven by the mouse metallothionein 1 promoter/enhancer and followed by a segment of the simian virus 40 (SV40) genome containing a splice signal, a polyadenylation signal and 3' flanking sequence. Northern blot analysis revealed low levels of transgene expression in hyperpigmented skin of non-albino mice of this line. (J:70622)

Notes
Sublines 242A, 242B and 242C were derived by crossing early descendants of female founder 242, on a mixed BALB/c and C57BL/6 background, to C57BL/6, (BALB/c x C57BL/6)F1 or BALB/c mice, respectively, then intercrossing the progeny. Other founder lines were 108, 192, 207, 301, 304 and 319.
