Mutation details: The transgene comprises the 5' regulatory region and the first four codons of the beta-2 microglobulin gene followed, in-frame, by the beta-galactosidase (lacZ) gene and nuclear localization sequences and, in the same transcriptional orientation, the Herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase/neomycin resistance fusion gene. Beta-galactosidase is expressed under control of the beta-2 microglobulin promoter.
