Interval mapping was performed on a (BALB/c x C57BL/6)F1 x (C3H x DBA/2)F1 cross to identify QTLs affecting the level of T cell subsets in virgin and mated animals at 8 and 18 months of age. A QTL associated with CD4 T cell subset levels, Cd4ts3, mapped to 41 cM (D8Mit51) on mouse Chromosome 8 and a QTL associated with CD8 T cell subset levels, Cd8ts2, mapped to 21 cM (D8Mit190) on mouse Chromosome 8 with statistical significance of P<0.05. Cd4ts3 is associated with CD4 T cell levels in 8 month old virgin mice. Cd8ts2 is associated with CD8 T cell levels in 8 month old virgin mice.
