Interval mapping was performed on a (BALB/c x C57BL/6)F1 x (C3H x DBA/2)F1 cross to identify QTLs affecting the level of T cell subsets in virgin and mated animals at 8 and 18 months of age. QTLs associated with CD8 memory T cell subset levels, Cd8mts1 and Cd8mts2, mapped to 95.8 cM (D1Mit206) and 59 cM (D1Nds2), respectively, on mouse Chromosome 1 with statistical significance of P<0.05. Cd8mts1 is associated with CD8 memory T cell levels in 8 month old virgin mice and 18 month old mated mice. Cd8mts2 is associated with CD8 memory T cell levels in 8 month old mated mice.
