description
Allele Type:    QTL
Mutation:    Undefined
This allele confers increased blood pressure compared to A/J. (J:66987)
Inheritance:    Other (see notes)

Notes
Interaction occurs between Bpq5 and Bpq6. Homozygosity for C57BL/6J-derived alleles at Bpq6 and heterozygosity at Bpq5 results in increased blood pressure.

Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:66987

C57BL/6J are sensitive to salt induced hypertension whereas A/J are non-salt-sensitive allowing for a genome wide scan for loci contributing to hypertension. 250 male mice from reciprocal backcrosses between (C57BL/6J x A/J)F1 x C57BL/6J were informativein mapping 6 Blood pressure QTLs to 5 mouse chromosomes. Beq6 interacted with Bpq5 and mapped with markers on mouse Chromosome 15. Bpq6 mapped with D15Mit152 with an F value of 19.8 and a P value of 0.0020. Suggested candidates for Bpq6 were Ptgerep2 andNpr3.
