Mutation details: The first coding exon was replaced with a neomycin resistance gene via homologous recombination. Immunoprecipitation and Western blot analysis using an antibody directed against the C-terminus of the protein did not detect wild-type gene product in homozygous mutant animals. However, a smaller protein was detected at low levels, possibly produced from residual transcripts. Il4-induced DNA-binding activity of Stat6 was not present in homozygous mutant animals.
