Mutation details: The gene was disrupted by insertion of a 1.3 kb PGK-neo cassette into exon 2 via homologous recombination. The insertion results in disruption of the cysteine-rich domains, which are involved in the biological activity of the protein. Homozygous mutant animals lacked gene transcription and protein product as determined by Northern and Western blot analyses.
