Notes
Pabr2 affects plasma apoB levels in male animals. There is evidence of epistasis between Pabr1 and Pabr2.

Mapping and Phenotype information for this QTL, its variants and associated markers

J:69759

Three separate crosses [(B6HuBTg x 129)F2 (HuBTg=human apoB transgene was inserted in mouse chromosome 10), N2B6 backcross, and N2/129 backcross] were used to map QTLs involved in plasma apoB levels at 8 and 12 weeks of age. Plasma apoB levels are significantly lower in 129/Sv animals and F1 HuBTg animals compared to C57BL/6J. Abrg2 was mapped to Chromosome 4 with a peak LOD score at D4Mit27 (LOD = 6.3 - 8.6, depending on age). Pabr2 spans 27.7 cM from D4Mit89 to D4Mit168. The affect of Pabr2 appears tobe variable by age, sex, and genetic background. Females show no significant linkage at this locus for plasma apoB levels (LOD = 2 - 2.6) while males show linkage with LOD = 6.3 - 8.6. Pabr2 appears to be inherited in a codominant fashion in males. There is evidence of epistasis between Pabr2 and another mapped locus, Pabr1, on mouse Chromosome 6.
