Mutation details: Exon 1 of the Vim gene was disrupted by insertion of a neomycin resistance cassette. Northern analysis of homozygous mutant animals did not detect Vim transcript in lung and spleen, but did detect a minor aberrant transcript in heart. Western analysis and immunofluorescence microsopy did not detect VIM protein in tissues of homozygous mutant mice.
