Notes
The first arch mutation arose spontaneously in Dr. Alan Gates's BALB/cGa strain at Stanford University (J:6434). Originally thought to be a recessive, pattern formation disruption in palatal rugae of heterozygotes caused the mutation to be redefined as a semidominant (J:808).
