Notes

tda1 is a natural strain variant that differs between C57BL/6 substrains and DBA/2J. On a C57BL/6 background, XY mice carrying a Y chromomose from Mus domesticus poschiavinus develop ovaries or ovootestes. Testes development is normal in the presence of a DBA/2J allele. tda1 is one of at least two tda alleles necessary for normal testes development.
