Notes
Homozygotes are fully viable and fertile. They have 25- to 50-fold higher red cell phosphoglyceromutase (PGAM; EC 2.7.5.3) activity than normal and the enzyme shows decreased heat stability. Electrophoretic mobility is normal. This regulatory locus is not linked to ru on Chr 19, the chromosome to which Pgam1, the structural locus for the enzyme, has been assigned by a gene dosage method (J:14077).
