Assay
Reference: J:229257 Gu Z, et al., Expression of the immunoglobulin superfamily cell adhesion molecules in the developing spinal cord and dorsal root ganglion. PLoS One. 2015;10(3):e0121550
Assay type: Immunohistochemistry
MGI Accession ID: MGI:6487898
Gene symbol: Alcam
Gene name: activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule
Antibody: Anti-Alcam
Assay notes: Two antibodies were described, but the one used in this assay was not specified. Either MGI:6457325 or MGI:6457327 could have been used.
Results
Specimen 3A: embryonic day 16.5 (more )
Note: At the lumbar level of the spinal cord. Double labeled: green - Alcam; red - Pvalb (assay MGI:6487899).
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS24: dorsal root ganglion Strong Non-Uniform 3C , 3A Strong expression was detected in a subset of sensory neurons. Some Alcam-positive sensory neurons were Pvalb-immunopositive.

Specimen 3D,G: postnatal day 0 (more )
Note: At the lumbar level of the spinal cord. Triple labeled: green - Alcam; blue - Pvalb (assay MGI:6487899); red - Chat (assay MGI:6487900).
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS27: spinal cord Present Regionally restricted 3G , 3F , 3D , 3I Expression was detected in sensory axons. Axons of Alcam-positive/Pvalb-negative cutaneous sensory neurons terminated in the dorsal horn, whereas axons of Alcam-positive/Pvalb-positive proprioceptive sensory neurons projected to the ventral horn. Some Alcam-positive/Pvalb-positive axons were in close proximity to Alcam-positive motor neurons. A subset of Chat-positive motor neurons also strongly expressed Alcam.

Specimen S5A: embryonic day 16.5 (more )
Note: At the lumbar level of the spinal cord. Double labeled: red - Alcam; green - Ncam2 (assay MGI:6488067).
Structure Level Pattern Image Note
TS24: spinal cord Present Regionally restricted S5C , S5A Alcam was co-expressed by certain subsets of Ncam2-positive motor neurons.
