Molecular description: This transgene consists of a tetracycline responsive promoter driving the expression of Cre recombinase. The transgene is not expressed in the absence of a transactivating transcription factor (tTA). When this transgene is present in conjunction with the expression of tTA, Cre recombinase activity is found only where tTA is expressed, and only when doxycycline is not present.
