Molecular description: Exon 1 was replaced with a cre recombinase gene and an FRT-flanked neo cassette. Southern blot analysis confirmed recombination. Cre was expressed in the developing skeleton, specifically in mesenchymal condensations giving rise to both osteoblast and chondrocyte lineages.
