Four similar genes encode the nearly identical proteins commonly referred to collectively as the Qa2 antigen. They are H2-Q6, H2-Q7, H2-Q8 and H2-Q9. Mouse strains expressing the "fast" Ped phenotype possess all four genes, while the "slow" Ped mice havea deletion for all four genes.
