Strain of Origin:  (C57BL/6 x DBA/2)F2
Transgene
description
Transgene Type:    Transgenic (Reporter)
Mutation:    Insertion

Mutation details4.9 kb of 5' flanking sequence, the untranslated first exon, the 1.3 kb first intron and 513 bp of exon 2 of the mouse gene encoding GATA binding protein 6 reside upstream of the E. coli beta-galactosidase gene (lacZ). X-gal staining demonstrates expression of the transgenic enzyme in the developing heart and overlying thoracic wall, stomach lumen, hepatic sinusoids, bladder wall, and tracheal and bronchial epithelium. No expression was observed in the large or small intestine, urogenital tract (other than the bladder) or testis of the developing embryo. In the adult mouse, expression is confined to the heart. Notes
Embryonic and adult offspring of 3 founder mice (of 10 transgene-positive mice) exhibited similar/identical patterns of X-gal staining. No distinction was made among them.
