Newborn homozygotes exhibit curly or bent tails with low penetrance. No skeletal abnormalities are observed except for aberrantly shaped tail vertebrae resulting in kinked tails. At 3 months of age, homozygotes show mild spinal arthritis and mild hydrocephalus in the absence of cerebellar lesions.
