Notes
  • Experiment
The Far mutation arose on a BALB/CGA mouse. In order to map Far relative to Chromosome 2 markers, the authors typed two Far/Far fetuses obtained from an (ICR.BALB-Far x AEJ/RkBc)F1 intercross for Mdk and D2Mit11. Both fetuses were homozygous for the BALBallele of D2Mit11. This indicates that while D2Mit11 is within the chromosomal segment containing Far, Mdk is not. Other studies (Peichel and Vogt, unpublished data) have localized Mdk 1.8 cM distal to D2Mit75 providing further evidence that Far is not a mutation at the Mdk locus.
