Notes

The inheritance of susceptibility to Rous tumorigenesis was analyzed in crosses derived between the resistant strain A.SW and susceptible strains A/WySnJ, B10.A, CBA/J and C57BL/10. A locus named Rrsv (resistance to Rous sarcoma) showed association with the H2 locus on mouse Chromosome 17 in mapping analysis using (A/WySnJ x A.SW-H2s)F2, (A.SW-H2s x B10.A-H2a)F2, and (A.SW-H2s x CBA/J)F2 intercrosses. The results of these crosses indicate that Rrsv may be linked to the K end of the H2 complex. F2 animals homozygous for H2s alleles exhibit resistance to tumors induced by Rous sarcoma virus whereas F2 animals homozygous for H2a or H2k alleles exhibit tumor susceptibility. (Parental strain CBA/J carries the H2k allele.)
