Analysis of 25 lethal b mutations permitted the authors to map loci surronding the b locus. The b11R30M deletion encompassed wi, D4Rck4 and D4Rck52 but not D4Rck140. It was determined that D4Rck140 is distal to b and D4Rck4 and D4Rck52 are proximal to b because D4Rck140 was absent in several b deletions that did not include D4Rck4 and D4Rck52. The deletion of D4Rck52 but not D4Rck4 in both b34PSh and b11PU demonstrates that D4Rck52 maps between D4Rck4 and b. The order of loci in the b region is Whrn,D4Rck4, D4Rck52, Tyrp1, D4Rck140, Adfp and Ifa.
