Notes
  • Experiment
Linkage analysis was performed on 439 pregnant female animals from a (M16i x L6)F2 intercross to identify QTLs associated with reproductive traits. Parental strain M16i exhibits a higher ovulation rate and higher number of live fetuses at 10 weeks of gestation compared to L6, but parental strain L6 exhibits increased total fetal survival rate compared to M16i.

Linkage to ovulation rate, Orq2, mapped to 16.1 cM (LOD=3.5) on mouse Chromosome 11. The QTL interval of Orq2 is flanked by markers D11Mit2 and D11Mit4. M16i-derived alleles confer additively inherited increased ovulation rate at Orq2.
