Notes
  • Experiment
The authors were attempting to find the minimal region on mouse Chromosome 6 that contained the Soa locus. Haplotypes of donor fragments from substrains from SW.B6-Soab, B6.SW-Soaa and C3.SW-Soaa/c congenics were informative. Whereas the a, b, c alleles represent tasters, nontasters and demitasters respectively. Using the haplotypes from these substrains, the Soa regions was defined between D6Mit370 and D6Mit111. Moreover Dr. Bachmanov provided the following to MGI; outbred strain CFW was informative to indicate that Soa was not separated by recombination with Prh1 or D6Mit219a during the existence of the strain. In summary D6Mit370 and D6Mit111 flank the Soa critical interval that contains also Prh1 (alias D6Mit13a) and D6Mit219a.
