Notes
  • Experiment
Bone mineral density (Bmd3) was measured as a quantitative trait (QTL) in a genome wide scan of 711 F2 mice in a genetic intercross involving C57BL/6J and CAST/Ei mice. C57BL/6J females express a low mineral bone density phenotype, alternatively CAST/Ei male express a high mineral bone density. Regression analysis was informative to show Bmd3 significantly associated with marker D13Mit16 within a defined QTL region bounded the centromere and D13Mit15. Due to the large size of the QTL region the authors did not suggest any candidate loci encoding for the Bone mineral density phenotype.
