  Three independently cloned genomic P1 clones that contained the 3' end of the mouse Sur gene were assesed for the presence of the mouse Kcnj11 gene by Southern analysis. Both the Sur and Kcnj11 genes were detected in all three clones. The P1 clones ranged in size from 75kb to 100kb. This indicated that the Sur and Kcnj11 genes are located within 100kb in the mouse genome. Since Sur was previously localized to mouse Chromosome 7, Kcnj11 was also localized to mouse Chromosome 7.
