  The authors have physically mapped a large repeated element on mouse Chromosome 8. This repeat element was found to overlap with exon 3 of the mouse Cdh11 gene. In a subset of laboratory strains of mice, the Sycp1-ps2 gene was integrated in the repeat element into intron 2 of the Cdh11 gene. The retrogene was transcribed in the opposite orientation with respect to Cdh11.
