Caption Tardbptm1.1Ckjs/Tardbptm1.1Ckjs embryos show defective development of the inner cell mass in vitro. Microscopic images of the wild-type (Tardbp+/+) (a), the heterozygous Tardbptm1.1Ckjs (Tardbp+/-) mutant (b) and the Tardbptm1.1Ckjs/Tardbptm1.1Ckjs (Tardbp-/-) mutant (c). Tardbp blastocysts were grown for 3 days in culture (6.5 days post-coitum). The trophoblast giant cells (T, the arrowheads) and the inner cell mass (ICM, the arrows) cells are indicated. Note the absence of the ICM in the homozygous mutant sample.
