Cryosections of control and mutant regenerated tibialis anterior (TA) muscles 14 days after cardiotoxin (CTX) injection. (A) Hemalun-Eosin staining. Regeneration of the tissue induces necrosis of numerous myofibers in mutant animals. (B) Collagen type I staining shows fibrous/connective tissue. Note the increased fibrosis in mutant muscles compared with controls. Error bars indicate standard deviations. *, P < 0.01.
