Caption Panels A-C: Coronal sections through the head showing intact hard palate of E18.5 embryos of wildtype mice (A), cleft palates Fgfr2tm1Schl/Fgfr2tm1Schl (B) and Fgfr2tm2Schl/Fgfr2 (C). Panels D-F: Trachea showing cartilaginous rings in wildtype (D) however in the Fgfr2tm1Schl/Fgfr2tm1Schl and the Fgfr2tm2Schl/Fgfr2tm2Schl mice there is no seperation of the traceal cartilage into rings, and the trachea appears like a smooth cartilaginous tube.
